This is Not Your Ordinary Children’s Book

This is Not My Hat

In the world of picture books, most villains are such comic buffoons that you really can’t take them seriously.  Thus justice is served up lightly, if at all.  Or the scoundrels “see the light” and become reformed characters.

Not this time.

Jon Klassen takes the gloves off.  This little fish is a thief without scruples; and justice is coming.  It’s no wonder Klassen landed a well deserved Caldecott Medal for this effort.

  1. I stumbled upon this book while browsing through the bookstore the other day. I was surprised by the ending and completely won over. Yes, of course, that’s what would happen.
The illustrations beautifully tell the story. This is on my list of books for my next spending spree. Thanks for the review.
